Kirklees Local Offer
This approach is known nationally as the ‘Local Offer’ and will have two main purposes:
to provide clear, comprehensive and accessible information about available support and opportunities; and
to make provisions more responsive to local needs and aspirations, improving choice and transparency for families in Kirklees.
The Kirklees SEND Local Offer:
will include information on Education, Health, Social Care, and Adulthood
will include information about services, leisure activities and support groups which we can then begin to publish online over the coming months
is currently being developed and reviewed in partnership with children and young people, an independent, parent led forum for parents and carers (PCAN) and local services, including early years settings; schools; colleges; health and social care agencies and other West Yorkshire local authorities. This is called ‘co-production’.
Kirklees Council is committed to listening to the views of young people and their parents/carers and involving them in the compilation and reviews of our Local Offer.
If you would like to comment or have some ideas about what we should be including in our Local Offer, please contact us by e-mail at localoffer@kirklees.gov.ukor telephone 01484 416 898.
Whilst this work is being undertaken a wide range of services for children and young people and their families living in Kirklees is available on the Family Information Directory.
