RE makes a powerful contribution to young people’s learning, providing them with the opportunity to explore big questions about being human, of religion and belief, and their values and ways of living which are important to them. We encourage children to ask big questions and we ensure our school is a safe place to express opinions and learn from others who might have a different point of view.

Learning Pathways
The syllabus is based around six threads or ‘pathways’ through which the most important features of RE may be understood. Coherent and sequential learning is built on these pathways and then earthed by thematic and systematic study of specific religions/worldviews.
The syllabus therefore aims to:
- develop progressive understanding of the ‘pathways’ and
- build rich and profound knowledge of religions/worldviews.
Pathway 1: The Nature of Religion and Belief
Pathway 2: Expressing Belief
Pathway 3: A Good Life
Pathway 4: Personal Journey
Pathway 5: Influence and Authority
Pathway 6: The Big Picture
Throughout each year group, we cover four units per year.
In EYFS, they are closely linked to other areas of the curriculum.
