Geography on a page
We love to learn about the world we live in. We are Geographers.
We promote a love of geographical discovery throughout school.
We are learning to be reponsible citizens
Children are encouraged throughout their geography learning to be responsible, respectful and active citizens, who will play their part in becoming actively involved in public life when they become adults. Children are encouraged through most of their topics to think about Climate Change and the impact they themselves are having on this, and the role they can play in this in adulthood. This is also linked to our Eco Council and their encouragement and promotion throughout the school of these values.
Throughout the study of different countries and faiths children will develop a sense of enjoyment and fascination in learning about themselves, others and the world around them.
They will develop an understanding and appreciation of the range of different cultures in the school and further afield as an essential element of their preparation for life in modern Britain, throughout fieldwork opportunities where they study the local area.

Where we live.....
We promote a love for our where we live, and encourage this to extend to a love of the wider world and all who live within it. We do this through engaging lessons, appropriate resources, promotion of the subject outside of the classroom, and through visits to other places and by inviting visitors to our school to share their passion and knowledge.
As a village Marsden has a lot to offer, and as a school we promote and celebrate this through our learning and through our links with external activities such as Cuckoo Day, Imbolc and more recently, through the tenterhooks project. In some way, all of these draw upon our surroundings and the things which make Marsden what it is.
