Dr Natalie Parish - Chair of Governors

I am proud that our school provides a happy and safe environment where everyone is valued and respected.  Our aim is to ensure that children are given the opportunity to reach their fullest potential, both academically and socially, to help them to become life-long learners.

As a Governor and a parent, I have seen how the Headteacher and all staff are committed to our vision of a vibrant and successful school that sits at the heart of our unique community.

We are a dedicated and active Governing Body who work in partnership with the Headteacher and Senior Leadership Team.  We help determine the strategic direction of the school, ensure we spend our school budget wisely and set priorities for development and improvement to ensure the best learning outcomes for each child.

I really enjoy being a governor and find it an incredibly rewarding role.  If you have any questions or feedback or are interested in becoming a governor please contact us via the school office.

How to become a School Governor at Marsden Infant and Nursery School

Governing Body members do not require qualifications and need not be experts in the field of education.  However, they do need a desire to get involved and to be abitious for the school and its pupils.  They need to be willing to learn, to build relationships and work as part of a team.  It is expected that all members will play a full part in the work of the Governing Body by;

  • Attending Governing Body meetings (6 per year and usually held after school or early evening).
  • Visiting the school during the day to build up knowledge of the school.

Before you put yourself forward, please talk to your employer.  Many employers recognise the role as useful work experience and may offer you leave for your dutues in order to give back to the community.

If you are interested in becoming a School Governor, please write to the Chair of Governors at the school address.
