New Intake - September 2020
Information for parents of children starting in Nursery or Reception Class
We are delighted that you have chosen Marsden Infant and Nursery School for your child and are looking forward to meeting both you and your child as soon as we are able to. Starting school is a milestone for both you and your child and is a time to be celebrated. Whilst we understand that the current measures make this more difficult, we will do everything we can to ensure the start of your child's school journey is a positive experience.
Ordinarily, we would be inviting you into school this term to visit our Early Years Foundation Stage Unit and to attend an information meeting, during which we would convey key messages about starting school. However, due to the continuing restrictions on gatherings, we have put together an Welcome Booklet aimed at answering those questions that we frequently get asked at this time of year by parents/carers of children due to join us in September. We have also devised an 'All About Me' booklet which will allow you to provide information about your child.
This Welcome Booklet, along with a personalised letter confirming your child's start date, are available to collect from the School Office. Please collect packs before Friday 19th June to allow sufficient time to complete and return your child's 'All About Me' booklet.
We have already prepared your child's school records, and would like to thank you for returning the admission forms listed below so quickly. Please remember, we will have to obtain a copy of your child's birth certificate once they join us in September.

Term Dates
Our Term Dates for the 2020-21 Academic Year have been adjusted. This decision has been made to facilitate the preparation of school before the children return in September. Due to contractors being on site over summer, staff have no access to school until Monday 7th September. Children in Nursery and Reception will return as per their individual schedules which has already been communicated within your welcome packs. Please note, this is not an additional INSET day, the INSET day scheduled for Monday 4th January has been moved forward. (Update 7 July 2020)
The Autumn Term starts w/c 7th September, however we find that a phased integration helps children settle into their new environment. This usually happens during the first two weeks of term and we have communicated your child's start date within your Welcome Pack (these are available to collect from the school office).
The term dates for the whole 2020-21 academic year can be found here.
Prospectus
A copy of our Early Years Prospectus has been sent home already, which aims to answer many of the frequently asked questions that parents have about starting school. A copy can be found here.
Special Education / Medical Needs
If you have highlighted a specific learning and/or medical need on your Admission Form, a member of the school team will contact you in due course to discuss this further and ensure we are fully prepared to welcome your child into school.
If you require copies of any documents that have been sent home already, they are listed below.
