Week 7

This week has been very busy finishing off our topic of Dinosaurs.  To celebrate we erupted the volcanoes we made.

They children have really enjoyed this new topic and we have all learnt so much.

The children have all worked very hard this half term and filled their treasure jar. They had a vote and decided on a 'sweetie party'.  We made our own peppermint creams, and thoroughly enjoyed eating them.

Week 5 This week we are looking at fossils, talking about how they were formed, what they might hav been and looking at their details.  We have continued to develop our balancing skills and learning to ride a bike in bikeabilty.  This week we are developing our number skills and moving on to addition.

Well done Green Room for winning the attendance award this week.

Keep it up!

Week 4 We have been celebrating Chinese New Year. We have read the Great Race to find out about the Chinese zodiac.  We discovered that this year is the year of the Rooster and that if we were born in 2011 we are a Rabbit and if we were born in 2012 we are a dragon. Children painted beatiful cherry blossom.  On Friday the children made some Chinese stir fry with noodles and homemade sweet and sour sauce. Yummy!  We also enjoyed the panto Jack and the Beanstalk.

Week 3  We have been scrimbling to dinosaur songs to develop our muscles for writing.  We move our arms and shoulders and develop our own dance moves then use these movements on paper in different ways.  We have been changing the story of Harry and his bucketful of dinosurs.  The children have been using their imaginations and came up with some amazing alternatives. This week we the children started their first session of a 4 week programme on bikeabilty.  Children undertake balancing activities and learn the skills to ride a bike, they use balance bikes to practise these skills.

Week 2 We have been learning the number story of different numbers, using the maths concept part/part/whole.  The children are enjoying the topic of dinosaurs and we have seen some great learning.

Week 1  Welcome back and Happy New Year.  This half term we are introducing a new topic, Dinosaurs.  It is hoped to inspire children to look at the world and think about changes. Green Room have a dinosaur den to spark their creative story telling and role play skills.  Our key story is Harry and his bucketful of dinosaurs. Later we will look at non-fiction.

Autumn 2 - Week 3

Our Celebrations display

This week we have been learning about the story of Rama and Sita from the Hindu celebration of Diwali.  The children have been making Diwa lamps and creating rangoli patterns using seeds and grains. They have also retold the story through role play.  We have looked at the similarities and differences between this celebration and those the children celebrate.

The Green Room have filled their treasure jar and through voting have decided on a Fairies and Trolls dress up day on Tuesday 22nd November.

Practise has begun for the Christmas production and the children are doing very well learning the songs. The Green Room performance will take place on Tuesday 13th December at 2:30pm.

Some children have been off sick this week. sadIf your child has been off with sickness or diarrhoea please leave 48 hours from the last bout before returning them to school.

In week 2 we scrimbled to Katy Perry's  Firework and used the paper as the backing paper.

Autumn 2 - Week 2

This week we have been looking at the stroy of Guy Fawkes and why we celebrate Bonfire Night.

We created firework pictures by blowing paint with straws.

In maths we have looked at 2d shapes and picures.

The children have produced some super writing this week, putting what they have learnt over the last few weeks in phonics into practise. Brilliant!

Green Room  won the School Attendance Award again.

Well Done, keep it up Green Room.

The Christmas nativity performance is in the last week of the term.

I will let you know the exact dates and time asap.

Autumn 2 - Week 1
